Spring 2027
Aerie Active
Inspired by Aerie’s original feather iconography and projected Spring 2027 trend forecasting, this concept study explores watercolor-based print development through a contemporary activewear lens. Wanting to reinterpret a nostalgic element of Aerie’s heritage branding, I reintroduced the feather motif in a softer, more expressive way that reflects movement, femininity, and lightness while aligning with the brand’s modern lifestyle-focused aesthetic.
Beginning with hand-painted watercolor motifs and visual research, I explored multiple pattern directions before developing the final repeat prints in NedGraphics. Using projected Pantone trend colors, I created a pastel-driven color story intended to feel playful, youthful, and feminine while maintaining a clean activewear appeal. The collection was developed for a modern tennis-inspired activewear concept, combining textile storytelling with product visualization and market-focused design thinking.
Throughout this project, I strengthened my skills in trend forecasting, repeat pattern development, watercolor illustration, digital textile design, color story creation, branding research, and activewear concept development. Tools and processes used throughout the project include watercolor painting, Adobe Creative Suite, NedGraphics, trend research, digital repeat construction, and product visualization techniques.
